09 Trip to US

Prince of Peace Home for Girls

Dr. Jim and Kay Hines are shown above with the directors and some of the girls from The Prince of Peace girl’s home in Guatemala. While in Guatemala, Dr. Jim and Kay Hines have focused not only on working in medical clinics for very poor people but they also have been deeply involved at Prince of Peace Home for girls. These girls have suffered much physical and emotional abuse. Many have been totally abandoned by their families. God has opened the door for 13 of them (11 are shown in the photo) to come to the states to visit with and thank those who have made a new life possible for them.

This is the introductory email sent out by Dr. Hines prior to embarking on the trip:

"WE ARE COMING!!

After 6 months of planning which included more trips to Guatemalan immigration than I care to remember, multiple requests for documents from judges and then personal interviews for each girl at the American embassy, we have obtained all the necessary passports and visas to bring 13 of our older girls to the states for a tour of supporting churches and friends. The girls will fly to Florida on the 30th of Oct. Kay and I will fly from Texas and meet them in Florida. From there we will begin a 6 week tour through Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas and finish in Texas. You may go to the Prince of Peace website (which has just been completely revised and updated) www.princeofpeacegt.com and click on news and see the detailed itinerary.

For those of you in the Corpus Christi area, we will have a reception at 1:30 on the afternoon of Saturday December 5th. We would love for you to come and meet the girls. But, I have to warn you, they have a way of really grabbing hold of your heart. We hope you will then better understand why we think they are so very special. More details on the reception will follow.

We made arrangements to purchase a much needed van that we will use for the tour and then drive back through Mexico to Guatemala. The cost of the van is approximately $ 19,700.

If you could help with the cost it would be greatly appreciated. Any excess funds will go toward the cost of the trip. You may send your donation to

Commission To Every Nation, PO Box 291307, Kerrville, TX 78029-1307"

Their day-by-day trip log is posted on their BLOG  (good read!)

Here are a few of the group loading up the new van and a trailer at one of their early stops:
